Personal Information

Dr. Berry is a pediatrician with over 30 years of experience caring for children and educating their parents. As a young child growing up in middle Georgia, Dr. Berry felt a call to medicine. He completed his undergraduate and medical school training in Georgia and then his internship and residency in North Carolina. After his medical training, Dr. Berry returned to middle Georgia to practice pediatrics.

Dr. Berry is known for his compassionate care and willingness to listen to parents and children. Whether it is helping parents train their children to sleep through the night or working through the trials of learning disabilities or autism, he regards every child as special and desires to partner with parents to help each child reach his or her God-given potential. Dr. Berry enjoys the continuity of care he is able to give to children and enjoys getting to know the whole family. He feels fortunate that he is now even treating babies of parents he once treated as children.

Dr. Berry and his wife Margaret are the parents of two daughters. Emily is a Physician Assistant who has worked in Neurology, although right now she is at home taking care of Jay, who is Dr. Berry and Margaret’s first grandson. She is married to Julian, an internist at Mercer. Catherine, a social worker, is married to Jake and is a therapist at an inpatient psychiatric hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Berry enjoys traveling with his family and is active in his church and community.

Laurie Hiers Gillespie, MD

Personal Information

Dr. Laurie Hiers Gillespie, MD, FAAP joined our practice in 2018 and brings enormous experience as well as a deep love for children.  A Macon native, Dr. Gillespie is thrilled to be home after spending almost 20 years away.  She attended medical school at Mercer University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Medical Center of Central Georgia, now Navicent Healthcare.

A board certified pediatrician, Dr. Gillespie spent many years in Nova Scotia where she served as a pediatric specialist.  While working in Canada, she served thousands of children and families and was a valuable member of numerous hospital boards including Maternal Child Committee, the OB Committee, Emergency Medicine, and Infectious Disease Control. In addition to her many years as a general pediatrician, she’s also had the opportunity to specialize in ADHD and related issues for the past two years prior to joining Northside Pediatrics. Further, raising a son with learning disabilities and focus challenges, she has become an expert in these areas, as well as general pediatrics.

Dr. Gillespie loves the outdoors and enjoys camping, kayaking, antiquing, tennis, and hiking.  She also loves being involved with her church and her community.  Now that she is back in Macon, Dr. Gillespie is enjoying reconnecting with childhood friends and making new friends too.
